Shelby Barnetti joined First Command Financial Services as a Financial Advisor in February 2017. She previously worked for 15 years as a real-estate investor and a Personal Banker at her own companies and a large regional bank. A graduate of University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Shelby holds Series 7 and 66 securities licenses plus life and health insurance licenses in several states, including Virginia. Understanding that the biggest obstacle to financial security for most people is their own behavior, Shelby serves as a personal financial coach to clients, continually reinforcing positive financial behaviors. She advocates time-tested financial principles, including disciplined, long-term saving and investing, careful debt management, and a thoughtful insurance strategy to manage financial risk. Shelby will work with you to establish specific, meaningful goals that are consistent with your values and then develop a personalized financial plan to guide your pursuit of those goals. Active in her community, Shelby is a member of her local Unitarian Universalist congregation and supports her son in Scouting. Shelby is also particularly welcoming to all members of the LGBTQ+ community. In her free time, Shelby enjoys reading and spending time with family.
